Why customers and staff at award-winning pub The Woodman are embracing ROUND

The Woodman in Ruislip is a small, traditional pub nestled in the heart of beautiful countryside. It has received a plethora of rewards including EI Group Community Hub of the Year, Best Outdoor Area and Hillingdon in Blooms’ ‘Best Blooming Business’. Pub landlord Steve Banks praises its character and characters, and his customers find it the perfect place to relax in a warm, friendly environment.

Like pubs across the UK, The Woodman was forced to close in March 2020 to help curb the spread of Covid-19. During the lockdown period, Steve and his team were working hard in order to provide a safe and comfortable environment for everyone when they were able to reopen. A key part of these updated measures was the introduction of table service only which is where ROUND was able to help. Since their reopening on July 4th, The Woodman in Ruislip has taken full advantage of the mobile order & pay app ROUND and has received incredibly positive feedback from both the team and their customers. 

We spoke to the landlord Steve Banks and speaking of his customers reaction to the order & pay app ROUND he said “We have loved using ROUND. The simplicity and connectivity of the app to our customers is great. Everyone has either used the QR code when arriving at our pub or previously downloaded the app and 99/100 people haven’t had to ask us any questions about how to use it. Our customers absolutely love it and how easy it is to use.”

In addition to being so well received by the customers, Steve shared how popular ROUND is with his team. “We would rather take payments through ROUND than card or cash. Our staff say they prefer it when a ROUND app order comes in normal order, as it takes the pressure off the staff, and how they serve. They don’t have to go and take the order at the table and if they do, a lot of the time people have said they are going to be ordering through ROUND.”

Steve and his team have also found they have been able to improve their efficiencies; “The speed of drinks going to tables because of ROUND is so efficient. Not having to run back and forth to the garden and bar saves so much time, we have had over 100 people in the beer garden and they can all be served so much quicker because of ROUND.”
